MCGS MUN'26
All India POLITICAL PARTIES MEET
AGENDA: Examining the shortcomings with the current voting system and deliberating the adoption of a new framework.
The All Indian Political Parties Meet simulates discussions among major political leaders of India on key national issues. This agenda focuses on analyzing the limitations of India’s current First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system, which determines winners based on the highest number of votes in a constituency. Critics argue that the system can lead to underrepresentation and a mismatch between total votes and parliamentary seats in institutions like the Lok Sabha. The committee debates whether reforms such as proportional representation or mixed electoral systems could create fairer outcomes. It also considers the role of the Election Commission of India in maintaining transparency and credibility in elections. Delegates must examine how electoral reforms could strengthen democratic representation while ensuring political stability. Ultimately, the discussion aims to explore whether India’s voting framework should evolve to better reflect the will of its diverse population.
All position papers must be submitted no later than 1/04/2026 23:59 IST.
