ABOUT THE THEME

VIS OMNIUM

Power has rarely been static, yet in today’s world it is more contested than ever. The theme for MCGSMUN 2026, “Vis Omnium – Power Contested by All,” reflects an era shaped not only by visible conflicts but also by quieter struggles for influence where interests collide, alliances shift and authority is constantly questioned. Power no longer rests with a select few; it moves through a network of nations, institutions, communities, and individuals, interacting like unseen currents that gradually reshape the global order. In such a landscape, influence is continuously negotiated and redefined, presenting both uncertainty and opportunity. When power is shared by many, responsibility is shared as well, making diplomacy the art of balancing competing visions while seeking common ground. Through this theme, MCGSMUN 2026 encourages delegates to examine the forces shaping our world and to engage with resilience, foresight, and determination, recognising that the global order is ultimately shaped not by a single authority but by the collective interaction of many voices and perspectives.

Letter from the Principal

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to MCGSMUN 2026, a gathering that brings together young thinkers from diverse institutions to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives, and engage in meaningful diplomacy. At Mayo College Girls’ School, we believe education extends far beyond the classroom, and platforms such as Model United Nations empower students to develop the confidence to question, the empathy to understand differing viewpoints, and the courage to articulate solutions to global challenges. This year’s theme, “Vis Omnium – Power Contested by All,” reflects the evolving nature of influence in today’s world, where power is rarely singular or absolute but continuously shaped, challenged, and negotiated by nations, institutions, communities, and individuals alike. In such a landscape, dialogue and understanding remain essential in navigating competing interests and responsibilities. MCGSMUN therefore provides delegates with an opportunity to examine global issues thoughtfully, communicate ideas with clarity, and work collaboratively toward meaningful solutions, while recognising the vital role young people play in shaping the future. I encourage every delegate to approach this conference with enthusiasm, integrity, and openness, embracing the exchange of ideas that strengthens cooperation and mutual respect. May your experiences and discussions at MCGSMUN 2026 inspire reflection, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the world we seek to shape together.

Letter from the MUN Co-ordinator

In a world where power is increasingly dispersed across nations, institutions, technologies, and narratives, informed dialogue and responsible leadership are more important than ever. Under this year’s theme, “Vis Omnium – Power Contested by All,” MCGSMUN 2026 invites delegates to examine how authority is exercised, challenged, and redefined across geopolitical, digital, and social spheres. Through thoughtfully designed agendas, the conference aims to encourage critical thinking, ethical leadership, and meaningful diplomacy. Beyond debate, delegates are encouraged to question power structures, engage with diverse perspectives, and transform conflict into constructive dialogue. I encourage every participant to approach the conference with integrity, curiosity, and openness as we work towards shaping a more balanced and inclusive global order.

Letter from the Secretary General

''Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” — Abraham Lincoln

Dear Distinguished Delegates,

It is with great pride that I welcome you to the 14th edition of the Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations 2026. Guided by this year’s theme, “Vis Omnium – Power Contested by All,” the conference invites delegates to reflect on a world where influence is rarely absolute and where the balance of power is constantly shaped by the actions and voices of many. In today’s international landscape, shifting alliances, rising tensions, and competing ambitions continually challenge the structures that define global order. In such a climate, diplomacy becomes indispensable, serving as the bridge that transforms rivalry into dialogue and disagreement into understanding.

It is a space where ideas are challenged, perspectives broaden, and young leaders discover the strength and responsibility that come with having a voice. I extend my sincere gratitude to the Secretariat for their dedication and to our MUN Coordinator, Ms. Saveena Sharma, for her guidance and encouragement throughout this journey. To every delegate joining us, I encourage you to approach this conference with curiosity, integrity, and determination—embracing the spirit of diplomacy that lies at the heart of this experience. On behalf of the entire MCGSMUN community, I warmly welcome you and hope this conference inspires, challenges, and empowers you.
