UNITED NATIONS OF SECURITY COUNCIL

AGENDA: The Rise of Interventionism and its Implications on the International Legal Order

The United Nations Security Council is responsible for addressing threats to global stability and authorizing measures such as sanctions or military interventions. This agenda focuses on the increasing trend of interventionism, where states or coalitions intervene in the affairs of other countries for political, humanitarian, or strategic reasons. While such actions are often justified on moral or security grounds, they can challenge the principles of sovereignty and international law. Delegates examine the implications of interventions on the United Nations Charter and the norms governing state behavior. The committee debates when intervention is legally and ethically justified, and how it affects global order, conflict resolution, and peacekeeping efforts. The goal is to find approaches that balance protecting human rights with respecting international legal frameworks.

All position papers must be submitted  no later than 1/04/2026 23:59 IST.
